According to our constitution, the association is established for the following purposes: defend the resident sailboats, and help the sailboats of passage.
The defence of the resident sailboats contains several points:
It is a question at first of defending us better against the usual concerns which haunt skippers: mechanical problems, problems of anchorage, problems of mooring, problems of crew, and more. For that, the AVP allows a better mutual knowledge of the owners and facilitate the mutual aid.
It is then a question of defending us against attacks led under diverse forms against sailboats: not lawful charges (pollution for example), bans on anchorages, increases of the price rates of mooring, administrative harassments. For that purpose, the AVP begins media campaigns and, in case of grave problem, represents sailboats in justice.
It is finally a question, pulling our strength of our number and our union, of defending our interests, that they are pecuniary or of safety. In this purpose, the AVP represents its members in front of service providers to sailboats and with the national, territorial and harbour authorities.
To help sailboats visitors consists in:
Welcome them during their arrival in French Polynesia and Tahiti.
Inform them about the material conditions of stay in our anchorages and in our harbours, help them and advise them in their administrative procedures.
Weave bonds of friendship between skippers coming from very different horizons.
